The Power of a Single, Simple Idea

Let’s discuss ideas.

I ended the last newsletter on credibility saying that we all have some kind of specialized knowledge through our experiences from our Occupation, Education, or Hobbies and General Interests.

With that knowledge that you already have, you’ve laid the foundations for a potential business. Ideas.

When starting a business, it’s easier to work on and develop something that you already know something about.

For example: Let’s say you like to fish. A LOT. Through the time you also have developed the knowledge to make you highly credible when you share information. Additionally, during that time you’ve come across some problems and created ideas on how to solve them. That’s the start of a business!

A business idea is a solution to a problem that people have and are willing to pay money for.

There are nuances to these solutions that will determine how profitable a business idea is, but we will dive into that later.

When a lot of people start thinking about possible business ideas, the thought can be intimidating! My mind immediately goes to Business Giants like Tesla, Microsoft, Apple, Amazon, Walmart, etc. “There’s no way I can create that!”

What we fail to realize sometimes is that these MASSIVE businesses actually started … small and normal, and they all started with one idea.

Microsoft: Standardization of Operating Systems to reduce users’ frustration with learning new systems

Apple: Make computer technology affordable and accessible for personal use.

Walmart: Sell goods and products at the lowest possible price.

Tesla: Create an affordable mass-market low emissions vehicle.

I’d encourage you to look up the history of a company that you’re interested in or inspired by and see what ideas they used to start their business. It’s really quite fun!

Business start with a single, simple idea. That’s where we need to start too!
